DAY 0: DEPARTURE TO SHIMLA / OVERNIGHT JOURNEY
Shimla is popularly known as the queen of hills that spread across seven hills in the northwest Himalayas. It is situated among lush valleys and forests of rhododendron, oak, and pine, it is the capital of Himachal Pradesh that was known as the summer capital of colonial India.The town's pleasant climate, with cool summers and snowy winters, makes it a year-round destination. Visitors to Shimla can explore its timeless landmarks, such as the iconic Ridge, Mall Road, and Viceregal Lodge, which offer glimpses into its colonial past.
DAY 1: SHIMLA TO CHITKUL
Chitkul is a village in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Located at an altitude of around 11,000 ft. With the backdrop of Kinnar Kailash, Chitkul offers totally breathtaking views along the Baspa River. It is said to be the last village on the Indo-Tibet Route and the first village of Baspa Valley.The Indo-Tibet border is just 90 km from Chitkul village. All civilian movement beyond Chitkul is prohibited. This is the reason why Chitkul is called the last village in India. The area lying beyond Chitkul village is under the control of the Indo-Tibet border police.
DAY 2: CHITKUL/SANGLA TO NAKO
Sangla is famous for its wood carving work and other handicrafts such as handmade shawls and caps. Look out for Kinnaur apples which are one of the best in the world.Its history dates back to ancient times when it was largely inhabited by the Kinnauri people, a community known for their rich culture and tradition. Sangla, also known as the Sangla Valley, is perched at an altitude of 2,696 meters above sea level and is cradled by the majestic Himalayan range.
DAY 3: NAKO TO KAZA
The village of nako is known for its natural,pristine lake which is a short trek from the monastery. The monastery itself is small yet very beautiful decorated with paintings and statues.Nako Monastery was established around the 11th Century by the Great Translator Lochen Rinchen Zangpo. This is a beautiful monastery located in the small village of Nako. There are around 4 different structures where monks usually go and pray.
DAY 4: VISIT KEY MONASTERY, CHICHAM BRIDGE,HIKKIM,KOMIK & LANGZA
The monastery is known for its ancient murals, rare thangkas and ancient weapons. The images of Gautam Buddha in dhyana (meditation) position are a must see. The monastery also has a sizeable collection of musical instruments like trumpets, cymbals and drums.
Hikkin is located at a distance of 16 Kms from Kaza, it is one hour uphill drive all the way and the village is famous for having a permanently structured highest post office of the world at the height of 14567 feet (4440 meters).
Komic in Himachal Pradesh is said to be home to the world's highest motorable village. It is perched at over 15000 ft (approx.) above sea level
Langza village is famous for huge quantities of fossils found here. Because of this the village is also known as the “Fossil Village”. It is believed that Spiti was once submerged under the Tethys sea and this is the reason for the abundance of these marine fossils in Langza village.
DAY 5: DEPARTURE TO CHANDRA TAAL
Chandratal, or the "Moon Lake," is set amidst the dramatic landscapes of the Spiti Valley. The lake itself is crescent-shaped, earning its name, and is renowned for its crystal-clear waters that reflect the surrounding snow-capped peaks.Lord Indra's (the revered God of Rain) chariot brought Yudhishthir to his heavenly abode at this very location.
DAY 6: DEPART FOR MANALI
Manali is synonymous streams and birdsong, forests and orchards and grandees of snow-capped mountains. Manali is the real starting point of an ancient trade route which crosses the Rohtang and Baralacha passes, and runs via Lahul and Ladakh to Kashmir while divergent road connects it with Spiti.
