Trip Overview

Spiti valley is famous for its natural beauty and cultural heritage. Tabo monastery is one of the most prominent attractions in Spiti. The monasteries in Spiti are renowned for spectacular murals, ancient temples, and several stupas.Spiti is often referred to as Little Tibet because its terrain, vegetation and climate are very similar to that of Tibet. It is perched at a height of 2,745 m above sea level and is surrounded by Lahaul, Ladakh, Kinnaur and Kullu.


DAY 0: DELHI TO SHIMLA 

It is famous for its beautiful landscapes, fun adventurous activities at the Mashru Peak and rare mountain animals at the zoological park. Trek to the popular Jakhoo temple at the Jakhoo Peak, Shimlas highest point, and enjoy the astounding view of the Shivalik mountain range.

DAY 1: SHIMLA TO CHITKUL 

Chitkul is a village in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Located at an altitude of around 11,000 ft. With the backdrop of Kinnar Kailash, Chitkul offers totally breathtaking views along the Baspa River. It is said to be the last village on the Indo-Tibet Route and the first village of Baspa Valley. the last village of the Baspa Valley and the last village on the old Hindustan-Tibet trade route. It is also the last point in India one can travel to without a permit.

DAY 2: CHITKUL TO KALPA

Kalpa was known as a Chini village during the colonial and pre colonial period. it was tehsil headquarter during colonial times and later became district headquarter of Kinnaur before it was shifted to Reckong Peo. current Kalpa is a village with a history of ancient temples.The culture of Kalpa is a blend of Hinduism and Buddhism, with a strong emphasis on nature worship. 

DAY 3: KALPA TO TABO

Tabo is noted for being the oldest continuously operating Buddhist enclave in both India and the Himalayas. A large number of frescoes displayed on its walls depict tales from the Buddhist pantheon.(Tabo Monastery)Tabo Monastery was founded by the Buddhist king and royal lama Yeshe Ö (Tib.: Ye shes 'od) in 996 A.D. and carries the Tibetan name 'Place of Happiness' (Tib.: dPal ldan bkra zhis bde gnas gtsug lag khang).

DAY 4: TABO TO KAZA

Kaza is known for its colorful festivals and the Sakya Tangyud Monastery. Rudyard Kipling described the Lahaul and Spiti region as 'a world within a world'. And situated about 11,980 feet above sea level, it really is just that.Kaza is the district headquarters of Himachal Pradesh's Lahaul and Spiti Valley district. The district, also known as "Little Tibet," is a veritable heaven on Earth. 

DAY 5: KAZA SIGHTSEEING

The largest township in Lahaul Valley and Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh, Kaza boasts of high mountains with snowy crowns, crystal clear rivers, streams and barren splendor interspersed with patches of green. Kaza is known for its colorful festivals and the Sakya Tangyud Monastery.

Sightseeing places in Kaza are Key Monastery, Chandratal Lake, Komic Village, Dhankar Lake, Shopping in Kaza, Kunzum Pass.

DAY 6: KAZA TO CHANDRATAL 

The lakes they created, Suraj Tal and Chandratal, still reverberate with the mystery of their romance. The celebrated lake of Chandra Taal is mentioned in Hindu mythology as well. It is widely assumed that Lord Indra's (the revered God of Rain) chariot brought Yudhishthir to his heavenly abode at this very location.

Chandratal Lake story talks about two lovers, Chandra and Bhaga. Chandra was the scintillating enchantress and beloved daughter of the Moon God. Moreover, Bhaga was the very bright and charming son of the Sun God. Both, deeply and madly in love still miles apart as their parent despised their love.

DAY 7: DEPARTURE FROM DELHI VIA MANALI

Manali is synonymous streams and birdsong, forests and orchards and grandees of snow-capped mountains. Manali is the real starting point of an ancient trade route which crosses the Rohtang and Baralacha passes, and runs via Lahul and Ladakh to Kashmir while divergent road connects it with Spiti.Manali is all about an open valley with a deodar and pine forest cover, freshwater streams and peaks perennially covered with snow making it a perfect place to unwind and recharge
